Jamie’s Bio

Jamie is a CEO, philanthropist, author and public speaker, but most importantly, the mother of six children and GiGi to her grandson Lev. She is empowered by life’s challenges and by family and friends who have kept her buoyed above the fray.

Though a Texan, born and bred, she has lived across the globe, from Austin to Los Angeles, Connecticut to Singapore. She is the founder and CEO of two non-profit organizations, Caring for Cambodia (CFC) and Staying Bothered, and the creator of the Staying Bothered Movement.

Jamie was inspired to create CFC when a little girl came up to her at the temples of Angkor Wat in Siem Reap asking for a dollar to pay for school. Jamie visited the child’s school that afternoon and saw 75 dirty kids sitting at tables in a dilapidated, dirt-floor building waiting for the teacher to arrive. She never did, but CFC was born that day.

CFC has changed the lives of tens of thousands of Cambodian children. Jamie started it in 2003 by restoring one school. That one building has grown into 21 model schools, preK-12th grade. A Education and Development Center, Collectively, they provide over 7000 students annually with trained teachers, two meals a day, and the chance for a better, brighter future.

Jamie is the author of four books:

Graced With Orange, the inspiring story of how one woman set out against difficult odds to change the education of an entire population.

Stumpy the Crocodile, a children’s book about helping neighbors in need.

Staying Bothered: Find Your Passion, Commit to Action, Change the World, an Amazon bestseller about sticking to one’s goals and pivoting when necessary.

Keep Doing You, Quotes to Inspire, a beautifully-illustrated coffee-table book that will elevate every reader’s day.

Jamie is also a pod cast host,  sought-after public speaker whose presentations include the secrets to staying motivated to make a difference; living life authentically; and tips on how to build a successful nonprofit organization.

Jamie lives in Lakeway, Texas with her youngest children. She spends her time trying to be a good parent, working, listening to music, and hanging out with old and new friends. Her favorite hobby is decorating and designing, with a promise that if given something unsightly, she can make it beautiful – a metaphor for life.
